Just announced, C4D R10. I post it here because Bodypaint 3 now has pelt mapping and is included as standard, which now makes the basic package a good consideration for making game assets I think.
Cheers
Boxy
Edit: Oh and just noticed, the new joiint based ik system is also part of the core app, not part of the character animation module, even better
This C4D stuff sometimes reminds me of the flash integration in director. It sometimes seemed that there was no more time for the developers to do something apart from updating just the flash xtra which was pretty annoying if you don’t use it this much and were waiting for other improvements/bugfixes instead.
Now let me look which modeller(s) do i own: I have a 3dsmax, i have a modo and i have a blender…
Hooray! I can’t wait to get my hands on this. Do you suppose the new joint-based skeleton will be like Cactus Dan’s tools? It will go far toward making the bones and skin system usable. Hopefully the vertex weighting is less finicky, too.
Taumel:
Well then you are a very lucky man But many people can’t afford the dizzy heights of 3DS max (even if they wanted to buy something from a company which is so virulently anti-mac, which I personally certainly wouldn’t), so I just posted this because C4D base now may be a good all round package within people’s budget.
Marble: I think it is basically the same deal as Cactus Dan’s approach but I don’t know details yet. But from what I’ve read so far it seems there will be a choice for automatic weighting, which would be awsome if its anything like the auto weighting I saw in a ZBrush 2.5 preview.
