“bones are gone now. Instead, we have joints. weighting has changed now. You can paint them or use the built in auto weighting, which will get you a fair way in straight away.
we have an all new IK, which is very very nice as it can handle anything from simple bipedal to quadruped legs or even bugs without batting an eyelid. Also included is a very robust constraints system.”

So, objects animated with Mocca3 are still compatible with Unity?
Yes that would be interesting to know. I am currently considering updating to R10.
On 20th of october i may have the chance to meet some of the coders of C4D in Cologne at the C4d R10 roadshow. Lets see what useful information i can… extract. I ll post the infos here if the mysteries havent been solved until then.
Will there be any Unity Users at the Roadshow in Cologne (20th October, 11.00h)?
You can sign in at www.maxon.de. Its free
Yes I’m also looking at C4D R10. I assume that C4DR9.x worked well enough with Unity (is that correct?) but the new character animation system in R10 looks compelling.
Upgrading to C4D R10 is a win/win, if you have the coin do it, it’s absolutely worth every penny.
As a correction to Lka’s findings, bones are still supported and the dev team even incorporated very nifty conversion tools for old mocca rigs and such. Case in point, I recently used R10 to rig a character with joints, convert everything to bones (weighting intact) for export to work in motionbuilder 4.xx using the fbx 5.0 plugin.
Yes, 9.x will work fine, but 10 is a dream! And especially the new animation tools, as well as the complete new interface. There are so many changes, but it doesnt require any to minimum affords to learn it, if you are familiar with 9.x. Just a short look into the new integrated help-system from time to time and you feel home from minute one (its inside cinema now, no pdf-reader or else requiered… full access from any comand/option you wish to know something about, results are displayed directly in the editor-window… Thats a really help-option!).
