Cinemachine - smart procedural cameras for in-game and cinematics. Now for FREE on the Asset Store.

We’re very happy to share Cinemachine Base Rig - for free - on the Asset Store.

Cinemachine Base Rig is the product of many years of design over numerous AAA games in a number of genres. It allows you to build camera rigs for in-game and cutscenes, blend between any and all of them, tune cameras while the game is running (and save the settings) and do all this without writing a single line of code.

Create, iterate, experiment. A camera system for Designers, cutscene artists and anyone who realizes how incredibly important good cameras are for your game.

Base Rig includes:

  • Composer a procedural way to track and compose any object in screen space, just like how a camera operator does. Compose your subject anywhere on screen and with per axis dampening controls

  • Transposer a way to ‘mount’ your camera to any object and move the camera with it with real-time tuning controls in play mode and per axis dampening

  • Priority per-camera priority setting Equal or Higher value camera priorities compared to the current camera priority will be activated. This allows for camera state machine setups where cameras are called based on trigger volumes, animations, health states, etc. Important cameras will trigger over lower priority ones

  • Noise procedural Perlin multi-layered noise system for handheld behaviors, shakes, and vibrations

  • Blender graph based definition of how any camera will blend to any other camera. Easily create large state machine camera setups

Wow. Thanks for this!
I’ve been following development on this for a while now, and was surprised when it just disappeared from the store.

Is there any information on the other rigs that were previously mentioned in the past?

Hi rrahim,

GameRig is being worked on, the documentation, example scenes and we’re making it easier to use. It’s a far more complex set of components which have a lot of edge cases and we want to get it right.

We realize that there’s a lot of demand for it so it’s very important to us that we get it right and make it easy to use and understand.

The best I can say is ‘soon’ because we don’t want to give false promises on the release date. Rest assured that we very much want to get Game Rig into people’s hands.

Thanks for your interest and stay tuned.

I understand and trust me, I’ll wait however long it takes.
Just wanted to know that it is still coming.

I’m surprised there isn’t more buzz about this though. It’s pretty big news to me.

We just released it this evening without any campaign yet. The buzz will come… We’re very excited to see what people do with it. Tutorial videos and a full promo are in the works.
