Cinemachine Virtual Camera moving way faster than the player

I setup the vcam with a Follow target (player) and the player is moving normally. However, at certain instances (seemingly random) the vcam will move way faster than the player. The problem seems to be solvable by selecting the player object in play mode. Any clue on why this is happening?

This is the first time I open an Unity project on my new computer, maybe that’s a factor?
