I know about City Engine, Blended Cities, and HomeTown GP. I tried to model a city in 3DS MAX but it was taking too long to model the city. Is there a tool that imports street maps from Google Maps, Open Street Maps, etc, and generate the streets of a city?
As you know City Engine does import OSM to create streets. Also there is a plugin called CityGen2 being made for Cinema 4D currently that will also have this feature. The plugin is due out in November I believe. You can follow its progress here http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=47&t=872644
I have 3DS MAX 2009. Is there a plug-in to generate a city?
I guess this is not an easy thing…
… Give a try to Blender Cities, is really easy to make it, you don´t need to adjust settings, you just need to click Build City and there you go…
I was impressed that Unity can handle highpoly builds in realtime without slowdowing rendering…
you can make your own streets manually, and make the engine works in builds, so one time you have finished doing your streets… copy and paste the builds as you desire-…
How do you convert OSM files to DXF or other files? What about Google Earth and Google Sketchup?
