Classic Skybox "up" Image Is Not Displayed Correctly

I downloaded “Classic Skybox” from the assets store and am attempting to add it to my Google VR project. Here are the steps I took:

  1. Created a new material in my assets folder.
  2. Set the shader of the material to “Skybox/6 sided”.
  3. Made sure that all of the images to be used were set to “clamp” wrap mode.
  4. Applied the images for the different sides of the skybox.
  5. Opened the lighting window and applied the skybox.

The front, back, left, and right images seem to have worked out fine, but the “up” image isn’t matching up with the rest of the images (see picture below). The picture shows me looking up at the sky and the square that isn’t matching up is the “up” image.

Does anyone know why the up image isn’t matching up right and how I can fix it?

Thanks!

I feel silly but I actually answered my own question immediately after posting it. I figured I would reply with the solution in case anyone else runs into the same problem. For some reason, the “up” image was oriented incorrectly. I copied the image, opened it in Photoshop, and rotated it 180 degrees. I applied the new rotated image to the skybox and it matched up fine.

Hey thank you for posting that info. I had the same issue – the “up” image did not match. I did not try rotating it as it looked like the exposure was quite different also, but it turns out the exposure was different because the sun was in that JPEG. It’s odd that the package behaves this way and also that the publisher has not added some notes to the Asset Store regarding this. Maybe that is asking for too much for the $2 cost. Thanks again!

I found you can also fix this without the hassle of opening the top image in PS and rotating by simply placing the existing side images in swapped positions as follows: FR < > BK; and RT < > BK. As an example, Skybox 5 will appear as follows:
