Clipping particles to a plane

I have a particle system that is simulating spray/mist at the bottom of a waterfall. In the scene, the camera can see underwater as well as over the water at the same time (imagine you’re in a glass box half submerged). The particle effect looks good, but I only want it to show above the water surface, since I’m going to add a second particle effect below the water to simulate bubbles caused by the waterfall above. Is there a good way I can clip the particles of the mist so they won’t show up below the water?

Never used 'em, but you ought to be able to do this with a World Particle Collider

From the sound of it, you could just set the energy loss property to higher than the max energy for your particles, and they'll die on impact.
