Like many of Unity users i don’t have a powerful PC and baking light takes a long long time and and also paralyzes the workflow.
So why not have an option to upload scene to cloud, have it bake there and just download it when it’s done.
Just an idea.
You probably want to take a look at Unity Cluster Rendering (happens over the network). I’m not sure if can be used for distry-beast (cluster rendering for Beast lightmaps):
There’s so many different ways that people can steal your data if that’s what they want to do that I wouldn’t let fear of it get in the way of my workflow. It’s better to get something done with a little risk of data theft than to get nothing done and be worse off than if someone did copy your stuff.
Don’t get to radical. Most of people are dummy in server security, it is much easy to hack a independent computer that one hosted cloud computer with default security (like amazon web server). In the last case if you don’t want that obamah to know something, you can encryipt almost everything nowdays
Keep dreaming. Hosted cloud computing, web servers, etc are much worse than personal hosted computers. Take example the multimillion user data info security breaches of many places like Target, Sony, Apple, Linkedin, BestBuy, etc etc.
Cloud computing is for suckers.
Its easy access to a large volume of user’s data and info in one stop shop for those who want it. And many many want it.
There’s a reason software development companies (like the game industry) have their data and info locked down, on site, on their own servers, on internal networks, with ZERO external access capabilities on those servers and the machines accessing the servers. I heard EA in BC Canada was built and run like fortresses.
Cloud computing is so fake. Especially with the xb1 lol. It will happen in the future but not anytime soon since it’s almost new. Buy a new processor. They are pretty cheap now. $200 maximum for a really great processor
