I know this topic have been up before, but i just want some thought from ppl who have used it.
What do you guys/girls thing about it?
My opinion so far after importing two animations is that it seems like decent quality animations, but the hands are a real issue for me since fingers are not animated : /
Anyone have any way this can be solved when holding items like an tool, weapon or whatever?
It’s only useful if you can manage to find a gem in the large heap of garbage which is the Carnegie Mellon Motion Capture Database (which is quite hard to do). It is often not worth the time spent trying to fix the animations, as you may as well reanimate with the time you spend. If the mocap file only has a small problem, it would be easy to fix, but there is much, much, more rubbish. I have found a couple of useful files, but not a lot.
My experience has been while it seems like a nice resource, nothing is plug-and-play ready. You actually have to spend a lot of time tweaking these animations to get anything nice. It’s often ok to use as a starting point when you can find a good base file… but like rab236 said, you have to weed through a LOT of junk.
With junk you guys mean animations not good enough or broken animations?
Only issue i had so far is with the hands, everything else looks just like i expected, maybe i was lucky with those two : )
eskimojoe: It says that a small part of the library consists of the CMU libaray only. I think you can get some free samples from their website if im not mistaken.
