Hey Everyone, i’m a first year student in video game design and development and i am coming up to my Final Major Project of the year. Throughout the year we have been tasked with coming up with a concept for a video game, which we then have to pitch to real investors with possible future implications. This year thanks to a partnership with Sony, scouts from Sony, Sega and possibly even Valve although not confirmed. I have gotten the highest grade in each other part of the year so far and i would hate to fail here. My problem is i need to come up with a simple showcase of the game mechanics and possibly even a playable demo. However year of the course has purely been designed and concept based, thus we have not started learning Unity or Maya as of yet. Those will come with the next year, in which we will continue working closely with Sony’s partnership program with the eventual goal of publishing a full game on the playstation store. However i have taught myself maya in my free time and i know how to create a good looking scene in unity, however i have no idea how to code and i have no idea how to tackle this. although a playable demo is not required it will almost certainly grab peoples attention and really showcase what my game is all about and how it will eventually play. My game in essence play’s like mirrors edge, with the main emphasis being on parkour/free running. but as mentioned i have no idea how to program a character controller it behave like that in the slightest. As i said i know my way around unity and can set up a scene and make it look pretty. However what i am asking for help with is the player controls, i need some sort of pre-made script or package or something along those lines. If anyone knows of any tutorials, resources or even has something i could use for demonstration purposes it would be highly appreciated and i would give you full credit if you so wished. After the pitch the demo will be scraped and never used again, again this is strictly for demonstration purposes and would not be exploited or profited from in anyway. Next year i plan on learning how to making it myself as i feel using other peoples work is cheating and not you’re own work, but i really do need to impress with my presentation. If anyone would be willing to help me out i wouldn’t be able to thank you enough. Regardless thank you for reading guys, it’s appreciated!
- Something as like this would be ideal, as i said close to a mirrors edge kind of feel with that smoothness too it and no really awkwardness.
