Comics using ex2D + RageSpline plugins

Here is a short video showing the possibility to create comics within Unity3D by combining ex2D and RageSpline :

  • With ex2D I add the animated characters in a few clicks.
  • I use RageSpline for the background + objects and especially the cases for the comics.

Yes, Welby…
My project is calling : “BD Touch” (in english = “Comics Touch”).
Because we can animate the characters or others by clicking on them for example. (Or “Touching” them on Ipad/IPhone !)

A new wave, as you say, a new generation of (RE)ACTIVE comics on iPhone, iPad, and son on… You don’t simply read a comics but you can make the characters move.

This is really neat. I tried to do something like this years ago in Shockwave.

Have you seen the comic readers on iPod/iPad? Marvel and DC both have one (as do a few others). They take the camera and pan from panel to panel when you tap on the appropriate edge. It would be cool if you could enhance the experience by adding animation to the panel itself (like you have) but also you would need to give clues to the user to click on a character, for example, in order to display their animation or talk-bubble. Perhaps a subtle blinking effect on the character or element. Just an idea.

Really cool stuff. Good luck with it.

Thanks ASchumacher,

No, but it’s true we have to tab from panel to panel on a smal screen like on an iPhone… Good tip !
Yes something has to show we can do something here or there : As you say an effect on the character or object… or another cursor like on Flashgames…
All constructive comments are great for me.
Thanks a lot,
