[COMING SOON] From the Creator of the Fire Arrows Asset…I bring you…..Fire Balls!!!

While the arcing wonderness of fire arrows makes my heart sing, there is something about a crackling flaming ball of death that tickles me in other ways.

When I began working on arcing projectiles for a studio game (Bring Out Your Dead - from a now defunct Everfire Studios), I started with fireballs launched by the nefarious Necromancer. These blue balls of explosive awesomeness would spin up in the Necromancer’s hand and then he would heave them into the night sky - exploding against their targets with magical force. I loved them.

Well, for my newest game project (Archers vs Sorcerers), I am again turning to fireballs as a primary weapon - and am extracting it’s capabilities and putting in a stand-alone Unity asset.

Coming with the same projectile perfectness of Fire Arrows (including predictive firing accuracy), these bad boys will have their own capabilities unique to the non-aerodynamic freedom of the sphere including:

Pre-launch ‘spin up’ and other effects
Terrain hugging fixed-height capabilities (follow the ground to hit the target)
Explode on impact, or at height-above-target, or even time-delay
Cluster-balls - the main fire ball explodes into multiple ‘smaller’ fireballs - raining death across a wide area.
A variety of colors and effects (including electricity, smoke and my favorite - the ‘ice ball’!!
Separation of launch logic from effect awesomeness so you can use the fireball asset but launch/fling using your own techniques and physics.

Asset is in mid-stroke of development - I need to finish up v 2.0 of Fire Arrows first and then expect an initial version of Fire Balls shortly thereafter. Watch this thread for pics and vids.
