I own Unity 3D Basic and I’ve been trying to using the view zoom which according to the manual is activated when I press the command key. However, this isn’t the case for me - the magnifying glass doesn’t show up at all. Any tips, am having real problems navigating around my scene without this functionality!

You need to first press “Q” to go into navigation mode (called the “Hand Tool” in the documentation). Then you hold down Command key to zoom. The better solution is to buy yourself a 3 button mouse… makes navigating around a scene about a 1000% easier.
