Greetings,
I have 3 questions:
- (theory) I make a game in Unity and post it on my web site for people to download it freely. You know to play and gossip… So that makes this (test game lets call it) a non-commercial product right?
If yes on the first…
- If i add donations section to my website do any present or future products become commercial (do they fall in to that category)?
And last…
- If i put my logo in a game loading screen then that makes it a commercial game (i suspect no).
I dont know how to make these questions any more simple please urgently respond. It woud be perfect if you coud reply on my email: mystery.team.creation@gmail.com (i woud get answer faster) if not just reply here thank you in advance…
- If you don’t do it with advertisement and alike, then yes.
- If you make more than $0 with it its technically commercial. Towards the law and taxes it depends on the country though, towards license restrictions its commercial
- No, even free games can have a logo.
Question though is: Why is it relevant if its commercial or not?
The free unity allows you to create commercial and non commercial titles
Unless its about taxes or you current job which disallows you to do any work for anyone else including yourself
“company” logo’s mean nothing unless you have a real company.
If you accept money for anything you to, you’re earning it, so be sure to consider taxes you may owe the government (and believe me, you can and usually will get caught one day, they have nothing better to do). Donations are just a loophole to try avoid paying taxes on money earned, but aren’t quite the hole people hope for.
Don’t ask people to reply to you by email, it’s not really the done thing.
Edit: Dammit, beaten by dreamora!
1)Whell i am wandering becose there are textures (lots of them) all over web and they say it is not for commercial use (most of them) sorry for english
- Dont be mad but coud you clarify “If you don’t do it with advertisement and alike” (i am not from us so i dont get it do you mean advertisement like youtube?
Well like he says, anything above $0 would be against the use of said textures. That includes money you’ve gained from advertising or donations or other means directly associated with the thing using those textures.
JEEESUUUS!!! God thank you for reply’s Dreamora and Frank Oz you helped me alot. Bless you all…
