(Wasn’t sure where to post this, but wanted to give Unity Developers a chance to get a job)

The job is for programming iPhone/Other platform games. Both casual, casino, and soon AAA games.

We’re still hiring.
BS/BA Not a requirement if skillset is adequate.
This is a full time job.

I’m curious what a position like that pays. Not as a candidate, but as a potential employeer myself. What’s the going rate for an average iPhone programmer?

That depends on the country, for example here in spain, a full iphone programmer could have a rate around 1200€ (around 1500$) per month, and a junior programmer around 850€ (around 1100$) per month

full iPhone programmer, talking about xCode coder? please, tell me where to hire that xD

btw, the great unity programmer we have in the company I work for is getting payed aprox that ammount (in Spain, and I think de deserves more).

The programmers I have hired cost between $70k-$120k USD. Not sure where you find them for $13k.

I not said anything about 13k$, but you can find a lot of junior programmers for 22k$ per year, and if you want I can provide you links to spanish forums to look for jobs. I’m not saying those prices are fair because their not, but it’s the usual in spain.
For example I don’t work per less than 35k$ per year as a junior programmer, and because of that I can’t find any job in spain, because this salary is for seniors only…

You said $1100 per month, so I’m guessing he was referring to 12x1100, which is $13,200.

Yep, but here in spain there are 14 payments, 12 months and 2 extra pays for summer/christmas, so 1100 * 14 = 15400$.
But there’s another plus, each company in spain would pay some taxes for each worker to the state, so there’s around 350$ more.

So finally in spain the legal cost for each worker for a company is around 1500$-1600$ per month * 14 months = 21k$ per year for a JUNIOR programmer, and the worker only receive around 15400$ the other money is to pay the required taxes to the state.

As an expert XCode developer I am making roughly $50 to $60 per hour USD. I would not even get out of bed for less than 100K a year as a contractor, because 100K a year gross is roughly a net of 60K per year after I get benefits, and pay taxes, etc. I can get a full time job for around that amount easily.

13k a year is working at McDonalds, shit quality.

Oh, if you want to include taxes, we pay the following around my part of the US:

6.2% for Unemployment
1.45% for Medicare
6.2% for Social Security

Someone making $100k would cost $113,850. Benefits are usually calculated at 1.3x cost. Given that, you are looking at $148k to the company if they are not contractors and have full benefits.

Maybe I need to hire some programmers who live in Spain?

Why do you think that companies like konami (for example) are hiring studios from spain for their next castlevania? because it’s cheaper hire a spanish team than any usa team for example.
Companies like ubisoft or gameloft have offices here and games like hero of sparta was made by the spanish team here in spain. Minimun investment maximun benefit

I guess Spain is the way to go  Now, where to find a Spanish iPhone programmer?

For example I’m a freelance available  and if you want some more people you can visit Stratos Community and post a job request in their section called Trabajo(Work) of course the entire website is in spanish.

And even more if you want people really cheap, then look for indian people, for the spanish price, let’s say 30k$ per year you can hire 2 people from india, recently I lost a job because my price was too high and those guys work for half my price

They also do shitty work, don’t complete projects in time, can’t really understand English, and can’t handle anything but the simple apps. In addition, they may just take your initial payment and run.

Remember this: You can have it On Time, On Budget, Bug Free… Pick 2 options cause you will never get all 3 from someone whoring themselves out cheap.

You are right Hoff, but try to explain that to your (possible) client, he only understand the numbers (money), and usually, those play against you.

If this is a europe based company wanting to hire someone in a european country , you should try posting your job for free on this classifieds website for Europe http://www.europegiant.com/jobs-7.htm . You may be able to find good deals as far as developers go
