Compiling shader variants... - what the heck is going on uinity- keynote aim for 5 secs and then...

Hi, guys what is going on with Unity 2018.2? compiling takes like 15 mins for basic scenes with one canvas in each… like wtf is going down…

Key note speech is stating we a re aiming for the 5 seconds to do anything… major step backwards guys… total killer 2018.2…

Is there a way to turn this off or do we all have to suffer?

Oh and then it hangs on 86013 of about 86016… and seems not to do anything… guys this is a mess
