Compressor Unity 5. Ratio. how?

Hi.

Having run a studio or two I would like to think I know a depressingly lot about audio gear.

and looking at the manual I am struggling to see how I set basic things like RATIO on the compressor.
Even if the ratio CAN’T be set (which would be pretty useless in many scenarios used “standalone”) what is the ratio?

(so I could maybe figure out how many to chain to get the right values)

The manual excerpt: (as of today)

Audio Compressor Effect
The Audio Compressor Effect reduces the volume of loud sounds or amplifies quiet sounds by narrowing or “compressing” an audio signal’s dynamic range.

Properties

Property: Function:
Threshold Threshold level in dB (range 0 to –60dB, default = 0dB).
Attack The rate the effect is applied in ms. (range 10.0 to 200.0 ms, default = 50.0 ms).
Release The rate the effect is released in ms. (range 20.0 to 1000.0 ms, default = 50.0 ms).
Make up gain Make up gain level in dB (range 0 to 30dB, default = 0dB).

Any chance of some further details on ratio (and other relevant internals)?
Kind of a “black box” at this point, which is never a good thing on something as critical as a compressor.
And yes, I could painstakingly do some tests to find out myself I suppose. sigh…

Even a clue as the the internal implementation might help.

And since we are making xmas lists…
http://uk.mathworks.com/help/dsp/examples/multiband-dynamic-range-compression.html
is FAR more helpful to an audio engineer than the current compression.

Many thanks.

EDIT: I added a happy face since I always seem to sound grumpy no matter how hard I try

EDIT EDIT:: I suppose I could always constructively use the side chain somehow… hmm

Just bumping this because I’m having the same question. Any ideas on this?

Haven’t tested it myself yet, but there appears to be a multiband compressor here: https://bitbucket.org/Unity-Technologies/nativeaudioplugins
