Identified by one of our customers, it happens in Snow Leopard (not before)…
If we run one of our graphic intensive games (like Billiards or MacJong) and hide it, then the whole operating system and other applications are heavily affected. For instance, Safari takes a lot of time to load a page.
This could be happening to other developers as well.
Does anybody know about this problem and a possible solution?
This is a known issue in Snow Leopard. For Safari 4.0 in 64-bit mode, Apple forced us to migrate to a new plugin model. However, this new plugin model still has a lot of issues, one of these is that Safari fails to send events to the plugin when the window or application gains or loses focus (even though the API reference clearly states it should). I filed a bug with Apple on this, and apparently I am not the only one, as Apple has closed my bug as duplicate.
At least in theory, once Apple fixes this, it should just work with Unity without any changes needed from our side.
