Hi guys, I have a concern.
I’m interested to explore the use of decals in consoles like Xbox One S and PS4 base model.
But in my testing, I’m watching some problems. A scene with Decals activated in the HDRP settings is dropping the FPS between 3-5FPS without any decals visible in the scene.
I mean, why only activate Decals in the HDRP settings (without any decals in the scene) drop the FPS?, is that normal behavior?, or is it something that Unity has pending to optimize?
Also, once that I activated the decals in the scene (making visible), FPS drop in an important way, look that for PC is ok, but for base consoles look that decals do not offer good performance.
In Xbox test, a scene with some decals could drop 9FPS compare with not decals activated in the HDRP settings.
Is suppose that use decals should be better than using transparency plane meshes (because transparency meshing increases the overdraw), correct?
I’m using Unity 2019.3.15f1, HDRP 7.4.1
