We still dont have normal mapping support for the terrain engine, no decent gui or 2D support and no integrated path finding.
Although unity is alot fun as it is, these things above are a must for a classy engine now.

2d system was postphoned but is still meant to come
path finding: Aron Granberg A*, was there, is there and fullfills all you need and more
Hopefully soon.
I appreciate his efforts, but would appreciate an official solution more.

was mentioend that they are looking into raising the bar with the terrain over the 3.x lifecycle but nothing concrete as for the 2d system that was meant to happen for 3.0 originally.
and integrated path finding would be useless as integrated means that we can’t impact it and I might be the only one there but nothing is worse than something as fundamental as path finding that I can’t impact on which level of data and granularity it works.
Also its not standard to be present in low cost engines, even higher cost engines normally only offer the possibility to hook in a 4 to 5 figure middleware without offering own ones (and we talk here about techs that cost 5 to 6 figure fees per title)
