Just create an account at Microsoft; it’s free, and log into it.
so I can use the VS editor for free? can I use it offline, too?
see, I have a shitty net connection here in the highlands…
… just found the connection property in
Edit \ Preferences \ External Tools
and managed to connect notepad (lol)
Yes, you can. You’ll have to activate your licence to VS once and maybe renew it once in a while; other than that working with VS off line is not a problem.
And Notepad, as respectable it is, will make a rather poor script editor…
ah yes… that was “part of the problem”… I had a free license in 2017 and it told me, it was for testing purposes only and expired. so I didn’t follow this further but thought about changing.
yes I know, notepad is extremely rudimentary, but was an option to finish the tutorial this weekend instead of searching for a new editor or dancing with microsoft support the whole night to reactivate the license or just getting to know there was no way to reactivate… maybe you know what I mean.
I like the image.
I think I understand what you mean. If you don’t want to dance with them to reactivate your licence, just create a new account at them with another email address and use it for a your VS licence. That’s what I did, not that I had a licence problem but I have two other accounts at them and I didn’t want to use them for VS.
