Considering bringing SRPG framework to the Asset Store- is it robust enough?

A package for the development of strategy RPGs in the vein of Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics.

The goal would be a complete framework including

  • In-Editor map design
  • Characters
  • Skills
  • UI
  • AI
  • Camera movement
  • Cutscenes for character dialogue

Everything one would need to hit the ground running with their SRPG- just swap in your art, slap on the components, fill out a few fields and it works with no scripting, while still being extendable if you wanted to add functionality through script.

Below you see a component based skill system

I could clean up the procedural mesh editor to look professional, but is that blocky terrain style a deal-breaker? The system I have now doesn’t allow for the importing of custom meshes and overlaying a grid on top of it. That’s certainly something for an update down the line, but I’m wondering if being restricted to a square grid that has to be generated in-editor makes the whole thing not worthwhile?

Thanks! -Luke

I realize it’s been a month since this post, but this is looking pretty legit. I think the biggest issues for potentential buyers is likely

  • How easy is it to extend/customize each of your bullet pointed items (does it need lots of coding, is the code well commented, etc)
  • Also the skill select wheel might be a turn off for some. Especially if they want to aim for mobile.

Hope you haven’t quit on this.

Actually I began developing the tool as part of a game project that is still underway- I figured I could build the tool into a product other people could use. As you can see, I got very little interest, so putting the tool on the asset store is on the back burner for the time being. I probably will do it at some point, but I’m afraid I lack the time right now.
