Constant Locking on Mac

Hi,

I have been using Unity for four years with no problems.
Since I upgraded to 5.3.4f1 I have nothing but constant lockups or none responses.
A typical day will be 10 - 20 reboots.
I have noticed that other Members are also having the same issues but none of the threads really conclude.
If I go back to Unity 4 then no problems.

I can start a fresh new clean project with one simple scene and even that will lock or even just drop back to the desktop.
I have tried to see if there is any common path that may be causing this but it can be at any time in play or edit modes. on rare occasions one window i.e Stats, Play or editor window will corrupt with blocks, but only one of these windows. Other times I know that it is going to lock when I get a 1 pixel flashing border around the edge of the play window.

Does anyone know of any fixes for this, have I missed some documentation or upgrade or something.
I do have some videos of moments before lockups and some cursing too.
Any help on this would be great.
Thank you

Dean

Hi iphonedeano,
Sorry to hear that you are still locking up, maybe unity staff can help you, I have noticed hundreds and hundreds of the same reported problems on forums. They are even having a sweepstake on how many bugs that you can report.
Maybe if you upgrade to pro then you may get some response. Good luck with your problem.

Hi Iphonedeano,
Thank you for your reply.
I am now locking up every 5 minutes, despite doing a total OS reinstall and moving up to the released beta version.
I would have loved to have upgraded to the pro version, but would you?
I have spent the last six mouths on this game and have spent an absolute fortune in the app store.
I have also been looking at converting everything across to unReal; It’s a lot of work but may be my only option.
I have also spent days reading forums and doing all of the suggestions, but still no working platform.
I have noticed that when I do a purchace and import from the Asset store then the lockups are more frequent.
Also why is it that if I put two planes within 2 units of each other then I cannot use any of the default shaders without Z ing. Yet if I use easy roads shaders I can have them almost touching, this is not the case with unity 4.
It may not be relevant but I have noticed lots of strange happenings that I have to find work arounds for.
I believe the lockups are being caused by an asset not in the scene but in the project window. Its almost as if the more I purchase the worse this problem gets.

Thank you again, maybe some one will have an idea.
