the possibilities for making something like this with novodex physics is exciting!
How can this concept be turned into a game?

That is awesome.
 Thanks for that. Love it.
It’s true that Unity could make a pretty good “Incredible Machine” knock-off.
We considered doing just that at one point (pre-GooBall)… even had a proof-of-concept made with nice physics, placing of objects, a little gameplay even (fun),
The core of the game design was having a few elements. Cheese-ball, catapult, domino, sheep, and some mechanical deviced that could drive or be driven by these objects. These could interact with each other in dozens of ways. That way a very limited number of assets would be necessary. The game would have been about transfering an “impulse” from beginning to end, by various obstacles.
A limited amount of scripting and a lot of level-construction later and you have a game. You could even make a level-editor in a simple way so that levels could be constructed by the user.
Such a game could be awesome and not too expensive to make. A lot of cleverness in level-construction would be essential. We never went far enough to find out how hard or easy it would be.

Check this out
Wow, that is awesome! I had fun cheering the ball. I wonder if other people will have the same experience.
Btw. It’s framerate dependent, so when I overloaded my machine as I am wont to do, the ball would fall through surfaces.
Hope this game will come to fruition…

Hi,
i like the javascript demo.
I found it hard to look at the scene in 3d due to the handling of the camera…
My contribution to the chaos of the day is this: http://www.marune.de/taumel/test/kaboom/ ;O)

All are fun. Traumel, how did you do the shots and the shields? Are the shots just spheres with some texture? And the shields, it looks like the have an expand effect, is that correct?
I thought I’d mention that you can zoom in and out with the plus and minus, and move with wasd. Also you can use the mouse with modifier keys to move. At first I didn’t see all the other stuff going on to the left.
I have the same problem as David has. I was wondering if Animations were sampled every fixed update, or just every update? That could explain things.

Fixed framerate animation sampling is an option in the animation component.
I just noticed the fullscreen option (control-click) on the Unity web plug-in while checking out hangt5’s cool example. Is there a way to force the web page into this fullscreen mode automatically using some javascript? Or by using a clickable link?
PS- 3D Rube Goldberg machines ar awesome!
Hi lfrog,
first let me say that it’s not unity in which it’s done. It’s again blitzmax, remember the test i did some time ago where i asked for some numbers? But i thought it’s valid to be posted here as the screen could really be a mess and so chaos…
Everthing is quite simple right now: shots are just planes and the shield is expanded by scale.
Anyway it was fun to have some action on the miniMac! :O)
Greetings,
taumel
taumel that game was really fun, good work! I got a score of 36000
Not really - we don’t want Unity to be used for spoofing attacks…
A whole part of the web-thing is to be completely non-intrusive.
Hi Yoggy
Glad that you’ve enjoyed it! :O) That is something around level 10, right?
Greetings,
taumel
I hope this is not as sensitive a Q as in actionscript forums, but will there be a option to shut off the full screen in webview? I don’t see any immidiate need for this right now but us wannabe coders like to have controll over things
I don’t think I need to tell you how much discussion there has been over the Macromedia logo on right-clicking a .swf…
Hi,
i yesterday just had some time to play with the graphics of kaboom. So if you’re interested, same link as before: http://www.marune.de/taumel/test/kaboom/
