COPPA Compliance with unity Ads

Unity’s privacy policy states :

This is from your unity ads implementation docs :
*

When you indicate whether your game is designed for children under the age of 13, ads will not be behaviorally targeted to users in your game. Behavioral targeting can yield higher eCPMs by showing ads that are more relevant to users, but its use is prohibited with users under the age of 13 due to COPPAregulations.

Does that mean that when the box saying the game is directed at children under the age of 13 is ticked, no PII is shared to publishers/attribution companies?

COPPA considers device identifiers/IPs as PIIs. They also state that a parent can get/delete informations collected about his child. This sounds incredibly problematic when the information is passed around.

Basically, is there a precise list of what is collected, what is stored and what is shared when the the game is directed at children under the age of 13?

I also like to know what exactly is shared when the game is directed at children under 13.

I am also VERY interested to find out more about this.

It seems like we can not use Analytics due to COPPA compliance, which mean no ads, which means no revenue?

In accordance with our Terms of Service, the developer should ensure that their app is COPPA compliant.

You can turn COPPA on and off for your app on your ads dashboard. This will prevent tracking of activity and ad targeting of children under 13.

@Seagulls you can use Unity Ads independently of Unity (or any other) Analytics tool, so you will still be able to monetize your game. Unity Analytics is also COPPA compliant.

Please note that Unity collects some device information. Please refer to section 3. Information We May Collect or Receive (Depending on Which Product or Service is Used) in our Privacy Policy found here.
