We are going to make a Wii game. We sended several emails without response. What is the cost of Wii development license for Unity?
Or…What is the contact email to know that?
Thanks a lot.

Its a nintendo shin-dig, theres a lot more to it than just buying a license I think, you have to get in touch with nintendo and be allowed by them afaik.
No, you have to be a well known/well funded developer/ OR have a publisher .
For the most part publishers are the folks who make it possible to get your game on a console . Even Valve used EA to get their games on PS3 and X360 .
I’m tired of seeing all these threads with folks who want to make games for home consoles . It just doesn’t happen .
The last time this popped up I believe someone was saying it’s like $40k ballpark for the unity license if you could even become an authorized nintendo developer.
To become an authorized nintendo developer you have to have a secured office that is not your home. It has to have key card access and a bunch of crazy security things, along with a proven track record developing successful games.
Here’s the guidelines: Homepage - Nintendo Developer Portal
I still find it funny how outdated Warioworld.com looks yet it really is the site you’re going to contact in order to apply for a license and support.
Before anyone asks: no. I haven’t applied for a license myself. I’ve worked for a company that is registered there. So if anyone is in doubt: Yes - the site is real and yes - you have to have a track record of games and be known. Or in short - you’ll have to prove you’re serious about it and not just some one man army working from home for fun.
Yeah, but it’s understandable… I mean, the site works, and “the developer application site looks outdated” isn’t going to put anyone off developing for Nintendo platforms (at least, not anyone who is likely to actually make money for Nintendo).
It is a per title license that costs $15,000 for wiiware and $30,000 for a disk title. You also need the be a Nintendo developer and get your game rated (which is around $10,000). It’s not ping to happen unless you are part of a large company or studio with a publisher. Because you are present on the forums, I’m guessing you’re not.
Hey. I made a plugin on the asset store for this exact purpose. If you still want to make a prototype of your Wii game so that you actually have something to show investors and use to get an actual dev-kit, check it out. It’s called WiiBuddy. WiiBuddy | Input Management | Unity Asset Store
It can connect a bunch of different Wii controllers to your Unity project via bluetooth and I made a bunch of functions for making use of the input.
(Also, once I get my hands on a Wii U, I’m going to start working on those controllers too.)
Check it out and let me know what you think.
