Could "Kinectimals" surface look be done in Unity?

Shader experts !

Kinectimals on the iPad … could that be done in Unity? Is it just “really freaking good shaders and lighting” … ?

Or do you think that quality of animal skin (err, pelt - whatever) could only be achieved with a lower-level approach?
