Could you guys please fix this annoying issue regarding pasting objects?

Hey guys. This issue is small but it does bug me a lot. I have no idea if anyone else is bugged by this. Its the simple fact that when pasting objects in the hierarchy it gets pasted into the PARENT of the selected object and not as a CHILD of the selected object. The fact i have to select a child of the parent to get it to be parented to the intended transform seems backwards. Image to illustrate:

This is what it does currently, I click on the intended parent and it puts it as a child of the selected objects parent. Annoying!

This is the way i feel like it should be, click on the intended parent and paste → pasted object becomes a child of that object!

Any thoughts on the matter? Will have a chance to be fixed in the future?

I hadn’t noticed this behaviour yet.

What version of Unity are you using?

I believe it pastes into the same level of hierarchy that is selected. You should try selecting child of that object and it will paste it properly.

5.6.1f1 64 bit

Even in the university computers this happened and the versions i have used ranges from 5.4.1f1 to current.

That’s my point, when there isn’t a child to click on / i may forget to move the pasted object to the correct parent I say why should we when its much easier when there are less keystrokes. Imagine having to do this hundreds of times in some cases. That’s 100 x 3 seconds to move the pasted transform to its correct parent. It begins to add up! I’ve been using unity a long time and it has been the same way for years.
