Crash on start up on some machines

Hi,

We have built a small prototype and sent it out to some people. Everything works fine here and we have tried it on 7 different computers running Win 7 and Win 10. One of the test persons gets a crash on startup with the following error output.

(Filename: Line: 1062)

The resource Soft.psd could not be loaded from the resource file!

(Filename: Line: 1062)

The resource Internal-GUITexture.shader could not be loaded from the resource file!

The resource Sprites-Default.mat could not be loaded from the resource file!

It looks like the “unity default resources” file isn’t loaded correctly on his machine. I managed to get the same error if I renamed the “unity default resources” file. Anyone know anything about how to fix this or what could cause it? We are using Unity 5.1.3f1. We don’t have access to the persons computer or know anything about it more than that he usually can run new games without a hitch. Don’t want to send him a new version that just crashes again.

From googling I saw on the Steam forums that people have been having this problem on released games to but looks like it’s a rare occurrence.

Cheers

OK for future users being affected by this. This looks like a problem that has been around for a while but it’s very rare. We solved it by just building in a newer Unity version. No idea what is causing this though.

Just a note: I’m experiencing the same problem with 5.3.0f4 on OSX standalone builds. Not sure how to fix this though.

I was getting this error on an Android build with Unity 2017.4.12f1.

Going Assets > Reimport All resolved the issue.
