Crashes on start-up on iPhone 3G using Unity3

Hi guys

My first game Axe in Face is doing really well on the app store at the moment. Unfortunately it has received some bad user reviews because of crashing issues on older devices. I spend a lot of time optimizing the code and upgraded the game to Unity 3 which helped a lot. I have an 1st gen iPod Touch and an iPhone 3GS. The game runs smoothly on both devices. Therefore I submitted the game to Apple, and it got approved right away. After the update I received a lot of mails from people having an iPhone 3G who are now unable to run the game. According to them the game crashes right from the start while showing the unity logo.

I just want to know if some of you have experienced the same problems and what to do, as it is very hard to debug when it works great on both of my test devices.

EDIT: I asked them to restart the device, which did not help at all.

itouch 1st gen has the benefit that it can’t update to iOS4
iPhone 3G unhappily can’t and thats where you get the problem as application startup on iOS4 takes up to twice as long so if you are on more than 10s on the iTouch 1st gen, you get killed due to too high loading times
