Edit: Narrowed down the issue in a reply a posted below.
Hi guys, I’ve been trying to update my project to a 2020.2 beta version for two months now - every time I try I run into issues/errors. Today I decided to try a new approach and created an empty project in 2020.2.0b8, and then copied my Assets & ProjectSettings folders over from my original project.
This seemed to work great, I ran the game several times with several scenes, even did a standalone build which ran great.
But now the project is crashing when I try to open it. It gets to “Open Project >> Initialize Menu” and then crashes:

I don’t really know what to make of the log - which thing is the actual error?
Is it the “Grouping invalid sprite. Removed sprite should have been sniffed out before reaching here.” ? Or is it something above that?
