Crazy physics spikes for no apparent reason?

Today I updated to 5.2.3.f1 in hopes of improving matters, but I’m getting a really weird framerate drops from physics spikes (this was not happening before the update I’m pretty sure)
Here’s a picture of my profiler at one of the spikes

Now, until recently I never used the profiler too much, so maybe I’m just not reading it correctly, but I’m pretty sure 0.1% + 34*0% does not equal a whopping 83.3%.
The spikes also don’t happen at any specific point. I can stand completely still with nothing changing and it just happens randomly.

So here are my questions:

  • Is this a bug with Unity, or am I just not seeing something?
  • Should I have any trouble rolling back to the previous version?

EDIT: So I rolled back to the previous version and the spikes are gone, so this is definitely a bug with 5.2.3.f1. I will submit a bug report.

Which version did you roll back to?

5.2.2f1

5.2.1p3 was my previous version, that fixed it for me, might check out 5.2.2f1 later, but 5.2.2p4 and onwards is defintely FUBAR, haven’t tried 5.2.2p1/2/3 though.

Reproducing the problem is quite easy, stick a load of ragdolls around a map then run it on mobile, eventually Physics spike until it just tsunamis the profiler bringing FPS bellow 5FPS.

This is happening for me in Unity 5.3 as well, did you find any solution, Unity don’t seem to want to comment on it.

I’m experiencing same issue. Even creating new project with default empty scene exhibits these Physics.Processing spikes. Experienced problem on version v5.3.0f4, upgrading to v5.3.1f4 did not fix. Will try rollback to 5.2.2f1.

Same for me but seems like it’s not Unity problem. In my case this type of random glitches happens in any application which uses GPU. For example, it happens with GPU enchancement turned on in Photoshop. With no GPU enchancement it’s OK. I don’t know what exactly causes this but I think this is GPU hardware or driver malfunction.

This problem starts after some Win7 updates, but returning to previous system restore point didn’t help. Also after updates the system gives me blue screem with 0x00000f4 code while playing the game.

Please reply if someone faced with the same things.

EDIT: Fixed after reinstalling GPU drivers and getting all important Windows updates via update manager. There is no huge pikes of Physics.Processing for me anymore.
