I am really not sure how to go about this since you can’t use the terrain editor downwards and you can’t rotate a terrain. I have tried adding giant rocks I have modeled below the terrain in order to simulate some sort of floating island but it always ends up looking really bad.
Ye I’d say the only way to have a floating island is to make a huge model of your terrain.
