Hey everyone,
I was wondering the best way to make a laser beam? First I thought of making a long, beam like geometry in blender, but then I realized Unity has both particles and light that could be used firs this as well, so i thought About a sphere that leaves a long light trail, is that possible? And obviously I’m open to any idea, those were just the two I can up with, looking forward to your input ![]()
I created a laser beam segment in photoshop and used a linerenderer and it turned out pretty good. The 3D platformer tutorial does this as well for it’s laser traps so you can look there for more info. You could then add a light source and particles for a better effect.
The only problem I’ve noticed with doing it this way is that if the beam is at a sharp angle to the camera then you can tell it’s flat. If that’s going to be an issue or not would depend on how it’s being used in your game.
Pills are stretchy…pills make great beams
Thanks for the advice, I think I’ll try to pill, the photoshop ideal I don’t think would work with this particular setup.
Whar are pills?
Capsules.
