Creating a Self Improvement Metaphysical RPG-style Game and Prototype ~Ideas?

Hi folks

I’m looking at creating a game that allows the player to practice self improvement techniques and methods, using simple but powerful metaphysical and personal development principles and redefining belief systems and personal challenges into positives.

I’d like to clone an attractive 3d environment as a metaphor for the player to face their fears/challenges and create personal change through interaction with a powerful principle of metaphysics/personal growth, and have the ability to interact with simple menus/lists or journal system. The grandiose end vision is skyrim meets ‘the secret’ with a big pinch of minecraft and a dash of second life, but I’d like to start with a basic prototype with a basic but nice looking 3d environment, a simple journal or text interface system, and the ability to interact with the information and add custom data based on the player’s unique situation. The emphasis is on the interaction of the player with the principle being taught/used, so therefore the text based navigation and interface would be the most important, the 3d environment etc would be secondary to the implementation of the principles. I am thinking an RPG-style environment with menu’s/text lessons that facilitate personal growth and teach these basic metaphysical principles, and allow the player to respond with their own specifics

Down the track I’d like to have a moldable sandbox environment where players can create their own little worlds ( I like the system in Spore), build their own house and create a private journal/self-inventory of their progress and lessons completed and learned, with monuments where they can add text. Their own space where they can embed videos, pictures etc (from internet ) on a board would be great

The later stages I’d like the game to be multiplayer, so that other players could act as teachers and students of the in-game ideas

I realize the end vision is a big project, and I have some questions related to creating the prototype/demo:

-Instead of reinventing the wheel can I clone an existing platform and modify it? Im looking for a great text/menu system, visuals and ability for player to play with the environment
How would I go about cloning a 3d environment and preferably a good text-based interface system for the player in Unity?
-Are their games that allow for interaction and molding of an attractive 3d environment that would be good to use as examples/could I clone that part of the code?
-What is the best example of text/menu interaction in a Unity game?
-Would it be better/easier to create a heavily focused text based game with light visuals?
-any good games you can think of that could add ideas to this project/incorporate personal development/metaphysics etc?

-What would be the easiest/fastest way to create a demo/prototype of the menu/text foundation of this idea?

Thank you for your ideas and feedback

Warm regards

Peter

Sounds pretty cool. Little strange to simply clone something though. The asset store has plenty of wonderful art assets so you don’t have to copy.

Take a gander at the asset store for your fast prototype of your menu. There are plenty of dialog systems that work with other GUI systems quite well.
