Creating two new topic drafts at the same time is buggy/weird

I don’t have a full description of this because I honestly can’t figure it out.

You can have multiple topic replies in draft form with no problem. But when I’ve tried to have two different new topic drafts at the same time, it gets weird. First off, when you create a new topic while you already have one in drafts, it gives you the option of Discard and Resume. This implies you just can’t have two drafts of different new topics. But when I did Resume, it did weird things like keeping the text but changing the category. I can’t altogether understand how the UI is trying to work.

I wish this post had gotten some attention. The drafts are just very bad.

Just now to test something, I started a post. Then I opened a new tab and started a NEW post. There this popup:

If you click discard, your old draft completely goes away. If you click resume editing, you can keep editing the new post.

But then after typing a bit, this popped up:

I didn’t edit the draft in another window. This is a whole new draft in THIS window, and this window only.

If you click Reload, it wipes away what you were working on (though it may save it to drafts - I can’t test every path). If you click Ignore, you can keep editing. Annoying, but I can at least get out of it.

I keep typing and get no more popups. But just for testing, I thought I’d open a new window, open the same new test draft that I was typing on and start editing it. So I really am editing it in another window.

No popup in either window.

:person_shrugging:

This whole UX is terrible.

I found this, and another bug with creating new posts from the no search results window, all while preparing to write up a post about how there’s no strikethrough button. Gah. I can’t believe the UX is so bad on this software.
