Hi Everyone,
Firstly let me start off by saying i am brand new to Unity and all things tech related. I am a musician who has always been in the sales profession so excuse my complete lack of knowledge and possibly stupid questions.
To sum up what i am trying to achieve is creating a VR app for IOS/Android, that essentially consists of a main menu which has links/hotspots to a handful of different videos i have filmed with my 360 camera. I have scoured forums, youtube etc. and there is very little on this, it is all based around games.
I have used InstaVR and also WondaVR and these do exactly what i want to do - being able to create a home page with a menu, basic navigation between videos, go ‘home’ etc. The reason i am posting on here and getting into Unity is i would like the ability to create my own Apps like that without paying tons of money to use these services and increase my knowledge as i have been fascinated by VR.
These are such great services but i would love to be able to create similar apps myself.
While this goal seems very simple, most of the VR information for unity is all using games and creating graphics, not really dealing with actual 360 video footage, and the info regarding 360 footage is very limited.
The above link was an extremely helpful video and was a great starting tutorial to add my 360 video into unity and add the Google cardboard SDK in so i could have a basic app. To expand on that, i would like a home page which displays links to several videos in a nice way (floating previews of the videos). Also the setting to scan QR codes for different headsets. When watching each video i would like a home button at the bottom of the 360 view and some basic navigation.
Anyone who has used the Jaunt app on their phone will know exactly what i am going for (obviously i dont expect it to be anywhere near as complex or nice).
I am willing to pay for assets on the unity store to make this stuff easier, i realise i may be asking a huge question but it just seems like such a simple application i’m sure there is a way for an expert to guide a beginner through it without me needing to spend hundreds of hours becoming a genius on Unity in all aspects.
If anyone can play with the free wondavr or instavr that is the basics of what i am trying to do.
Any help would be much appreciated or pointing me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.
