Hi guys,
I am considering a 2D animation package, but i would need some advices bewteen two tools, Spine 2D and Creature 2D animation software.
They seem very equivalent, what is one best at ?
-Performance
-Unity integration usage
-Advanced 2D animation features
First time I’ve ever heard of Creatures - it’s impressive looking, and has some quality titles developed in it!
This probably isn’t helpful but I choose Spriter Pro over Spine. I wasn’t fond with the oddity of having to upload different files into the Unity directory to get animations to play properly. Just seems like a weird requirement. For some reason spine just didn’t appeal to me. That being said - it seems several small teams use it and develop quality content with it.
There is a higher number of forum threads on here encountering issues/trouble related to spine - compared to other 2D animation packages. This may have been one of the factors for me choosing Spriter instead of spine.
My guess is it’s just the more popular one.
Sadly, the best advice is purchase the full license for all of them and see if they work for you. The trial versions of each are useless for testing workflow, while the basic packages will get you in the door to test Unity integration, but whether advanced features are supported yet/well is always iffy.
I’m currently bashing my head against this, just playing with free options, and none of it is particularly good. Just try everything. You may very well find Puppet2D or Anima2D in the asset store to be just as good of options with integration guaranteed.

Good point.
I do know - spine has a direct import option into Unity that seems to be (based on reading) a very nice feature, though I have no information on the specifics beyond what others have mentioned about it.
