Cross Platform NOT!

Shipped with no cross platform development modules. Help video dealing with this is rubbish fails in first 30 seconds. Click these boxes on this menu to download, no hint on where to find & how to open the menu shown.
No worries go to Unity build setting > link > download module > error or hunt around.

The most basic module for a standalone build completely missing wow that’s helpful.

As for UWP & visual studios clearly means Unavailable Windows Plug in/Tool kit.

Photon software will profit from such basic mistakes don’t promise cross platform then ship trash.

You have probably skipped an option to install those modules along with a Unity Editor.

Uninstall Unity, run the installer and make sure you check components you need.

Actually you can just install the modules you want even with Unity already installed.

yaxman, sometimes getting what you want involves reading articles. It’s easy. Other times, and the following afflicts you, not paying attention to what your doing or why your doing it makes you start threads like this. You will be lucky, trust me, if the thread gets locked quickly as some of my fellow Uniteers destroy stupidity like yours in the most fantastically versed way known to the Universe.

Now, grow some comprehension and observation skills, and stop jumping in to a swimming pool that has no water in it.

Did you install the platform modules that you are planning on targetting with your project?

From where does the help video originate? Keep in mind that videos from YouTube can often be years out of date. If you need help you’re almost always better off asking on the forums than resorting to weird solutions like a “help video”.

Modules are pretty new. Most videos won’t cover them.

Of course the assumption also is that game devs are not idiots, and can read and Google. Modules are not hard to figure out on your own.

Started on a VIC20. Old man laughing. Classic cover for poor software design blame the user sorry too old to fall for that one. Shall I forward you the error list generated when these wonderful modules fail to load.

Little design tip when the client complains try sorry my program clearly needs adjusting not oh you are dumb.

Day 5 20+ videos & help threads later. What have we learned? No link from Build settings > Standalone module install observed that. UWP development kit fails to load in VS seen that as well. Unity Help vids which go tick these boxes on this menu no information how to open that menu seen that lots as well. Not sure how these failures in basic design are a reflection of my IQ.?

Understand saving space not loading all the kits good idea. Failure to provide working links to install the modules later is very poor design end of story. The most important basic standalone SDK should be shipped on install it gets worse not having a working link to install this later is a major mistake which Unity seems to just forget about.
Thanks you seem right only way to access the standalone is a reinstall.

Calm down old man. I thought your generation grew up with manners. The fact that millions of other users have successfully installed and run the appropriate modules without real trouble does point to PEBCAK. Either that or there is something specifically wrong with your system.

So let’s work through it. What platform are you trying to install? What version of Unity are you using? What system are you running? What errors are you getting?

You know, all of the basic bug reporting stuff that anyone with your two hundred years of software development should be familiar with.

Try explaining your problem with complete, understandable sentences. Obviously the issue is on your end if NO ONE else is having a problem. Posting like this, full of piss and sarcasm, immediately puts everyone off the idea of helping you. There’s no need for it - just chill out and work through your issue calmly.

Note that Unity does not run on a VIC20, which I humbly suggest is the source of the problem.

Started on a C64. You’d be surprised how many times I have stumbled over something because it was implemented in a way that made sense to someone with a formal education but was different from how my self-taught practices would handle it.

That’s not to say you don’t have an education but if you’re like me you might be approaching it a bit differently than others.

Started on a VIC20 you kids are funny manual, help forums, been here before perhaps before you where born also know a flawed system when I see one. I am not the first or last to highlight these problems. Wish I had listen to the critics a bit more now could be having my friends testing my game by now. Instead fingers crossed & lucky charm holding on a reinstall.

Sorry what I said you a C64 wow respect

I started with a Sinclair ZX80 (like quite a few people here). Unity is a great tool, with support for many platforms. Installing the modules you want is very easy from the main Get Unity page. Run the installer and pick those modules you want.

If you’ve got questions or need a hand, there’s forums for every aspect of Unity, as well as the Learn section which is full of tutorials and videos.

ProTip: Modern computers have plenty of memory available for punctuation, give it a shot!

Thanks you right need to chill. Just very disappointed picked unity months ago because didn’t want hassle when going cross platform. No problems used my own code, assets & so on till now. First time have to depend on others and we are off.
A solid week of broken links, learn, install, error, help, fix error, move to next error, help, fix error…
never puts one in a good mood.

You never know. He might be browsing the web on his VIC-20. Just check out this OS w/ browser for old computers. :stuck_out_tongue:
