Cubatrons

Hey guys!
Working on a new game called “Cubatrons”

You can check game mechanics, graphics and basic idea on browser-based version:

I hope you like it!

Come on, guys, have a look! Some pretty unique gameplay going on here, this is going to be interesting, I promise.

Ok, maybe little how-to-play will heat up the interest:
There is character on right side of screen, don’t let monsters from left side of screen reach him. Also there are tetris-like blocks laying around the level. Grab those blocks with mouse and throw into enemies to kill them. There is a worm that collect enemy corpses to assist you. 3 corpses = new block. New blocks appears under player’s character. You can use those blocks to build barricades to block monsters or you can feed blocks to player character and he will transform those into bonuses to assist you in battle. With time difficulty will rise significantly, more and more new types of monsters will attack, disasters (like earthquake, hurricane and some other things) and bunch of other events. Make sure that you collect your blocks because when time comes you’re going to need everything you have.

It’s cute, I like it. Good job.
Only thing, I tend to lose my blocks easily, I’m not sure if it’s a bug or supposed to happen.

Damn my long post just disappeared. Oh…
Ok long story->short: try dropping blocks on monsters instead of throwing. This proven to be more accurate way of playing. Did you get to other monsters yet? Was there a hurricane already?

Thanks for trying it out, really appreciate it!

GREAT game, guys! LOVE the artwork!

I think the graphics and sounds are pretty cool: love the way how monsters get eaten, the cracking sound is amazing

On my laptop’s native resolution 1366x768 the game is not fitting on a screen.

I did get that monsters with big mugs, many-leggers and springs, there was a wind. For me it seems that the gameplay is kind of slow going and not challenging. It is just to easy to hold monsters. I think it would be much better if blocks will be more deadly and maybe kind of bouncy, and monsters faster and smarter.

Thank you so much guys for trying this one out! This means a lot!!!

Difficulty of the game is actually very hard question. Like it was with my first game (Olly Low Poly) it was so hard at first people barely could finish first episode. with next update it became a lot lot easier and it was more successful but some people are actually pointed out that challenging Olly had more of essence in it. With this game idk really, I’ve tested story mode on iPad and sometimes it was pretty hard. I’ve also tested web version (survival mode, the one you played) and it is very easy and relaxed at the beginning but getting pretty hard 5-10 minutes later. At least for me.
Great suggestion about smarter monsters. I assume you mean monsters trying to avoid blocks and stuff, right? For this particular version it might be just too late to do that but in next one I will give it a try. On the other hand behaviour of those monsters I have now is very predictable for a reason: I wanted it to be some kind of tower defence game, and in most tower defence games you can plan your actions based on predictability of enemies.

Btw, to make it more challenging try building tower of blocks and reach dash-line with it. It will make things more interesting, I promise you. Also after hurricane there are going to be other disasters, first it is earthquake, next it is mosnterfall (I bet it WILL be challenging) and after that - giant monsters. tough motherfuckers! And immortal enemies (can only be killed with bonuses like mine and trap).

Once again, I can’t thank you enough for trying it out and for all kind words!

Now on Kongregate!!! (with Highscore and stuff)
