Cube Wars - In Development (Updated Demo) Tons New Features

Alright I’ve added a lot of new features and fixed a lot of stuff with my game and it’s really starting to come along, I’m posting the updated version so you can test it out. Critiques and suggestions would be appreciated.

New Features:

• Better controls now with the mouse, 3rd Person Shooter like controls to give you excellent maneuvering while dodging enemies.

• A scoring system has been added so you can keep track of how many enemies you’ve killed.

• New and improved boss, boss now has a crazy laser burst that will be a lot more challenging then before, also is much tougher with increased health.

• Added a triple shot to the player to give a little taste of the weapon upgrades soon to come, will be much better though.

• Enemies have more of a unique look and have different colored bullets.

• Custom GUI health bar, simple for now.

• Added a title screen, simple for now.

• Level still simple for now, but fixed a lot of stuff and centered everything up.

• Cool spacey background and some background music, might not suit the game but just a test.

• Can turn and shoot at the same time.

• Fixed being able to shoot threw walls.

Features to Come:

• Weapon upgrading system

• Power ups

• Better graphics

• Texture overhaul

• More complex and detailed levels

• Bigger and badder bosses with new effects

• Better AI

• Shadows

• High score system

• Better GUIs

• Better title screen

And much much more…

The object is to get to the boss (shown in the picture below) and kill him. The enemies will get harder to kill and dodge as you get closer to the boss. There are health packs to help you out along the way.

Well I didn’t know about that, this website is widely used by unity game developers to show there games. I’m brand new to it, but I think I remember someone saying that they put it down and check it every other day or so. Thats sucks though now it’s going to be a few hours…Well come back and try in a few hours.

Ok the demo is now working, I know there were some problems before, but there fixed. Please tell me what you think.

for some reason it crashed a couple times when trying to load it, but after refreshing twice it played fine

It’s pretty cool, I would suggest maybe working on the controls a little, so that you can turn and shoot at the same time, but other than that its really good.

I constantly gets an error message bad file length?
But keep you work going :wink:

Must say that its extremely fun and easy to use :slight_smile:

Its quite fun one thing to look at is the light cast through the wall.

Well, it was quite fun, but if your character is right up against a wall, you can shoot through it.

Thanks guys for all the compliments and suggestions, I’ve fixed most of the problems you guys mentioned like the bullets shooting threw the walls and errors. I’ll post the next test as soon as I’m done programming some scripts (which I’m having problems with) check the top post to see if you can help me out thanks.

Some suggestions would be appreciated…

It’s pretty cool. I would add something that alerts the player that they completed the game once all the enemies are dead. Also, you may want to think about make the floor and walls have a different texture. I ran into the walls a couple times on accident. :stuck_out_tongue:

I keep getting the bad file length error but I’ll try it from home later and drop some comments if I can get it to work from there

Managed to get it to work from home and it’s a very promising start :slight_smile: The camera feels a little far away from the action but that could just be down to the small player window, but the controls felt pretty good to me
