Unity comes bundled with MonoDevelop (not sure which version at the moment).
There were efforts to update the MonoDevelop version to a newer one. I know because i am still using that “experimental” beta version (5.10.3 i believe).
Also, there was another thread related to Xamarin Studio support.
Can anyone update what is the current status regarding both of these newer IDEs? are they going to be officially supported any time soon? or what are you focusing on at the moment ?
My install is currently rocking version 5.9.6 of MonoDevelop.
No idea what unity has plans for in regards to it.
Since unity supports opening most any IDE though… to me it doesn’t really matter. I use Visual Studio personally, Visual Code has also been getting very popular.
Visual Studio Community 2017 is bundled with 5.6 (at least on Windows, not sure if it is available on other platforms). Previous versions of Unity bundled VS 2015. My opinion is both are far superior to MonoDevelop.

I work mostly on MacOS, so VS2017 is not an option for me.
Visual Code works on OSX.
This is kind of vague, what IDEs are you specifically talking about? The big ones already work (Visual Studio, VS Code, MonoDevelop) and other ones don’t really need anything special to work (Notepad++, Sublime, etc.).
