I looked around the forums and found a bunch of posts, but not what I was looking for. I am ordering a new laptop and want to know that I get Windows 8 64 bit installed on it will I be able to use Unity in its current build?
Yes, though you can’t build games for the Windows 8 platform yet. But Unity itself works fine in Windows 8, and you can use it to make games for other platforms (including Windows 7, which will work in Windows 8’s Desktop mode).
I won’t work in Windows RT, though, so no Surfaces…
I haven’t tried, though I don’t see why not. I’ve targeted both “Windows Standalone” (Windows 7) and Android, both have worked in Windows 8. And I have played demos in the Unity Web platform, checking out things in the Asset Store.
Speaking of memory here but i think that at least the metro internet explorer has limitations on plugins, so not sure it’ll get you on the winRT version of Windows.
