Can a custom shader be converted to HDRP? I bought a model and was using it but recently upgraded to HDRP and when I convert the material its just dull gray. I’m guessing this custom shader they used won’t covert? How do I know when I buy a model or asset if its going to work in HDRP?
Not really, at least not easily.
Assume they won’t work unless they are explicitly mentioned by the asset description.
Let me ask you this then. I like this model and I can’t really find a good replacement. Would it be possible to leave this model in its current shader but use HDRP with everything else? Or would that not look good?
No, the current shader would not work. It is most likely made for the Legacy pipeline, which shaders are not compatible with HDRP. You can either try to re-write the shader, use HDRP’s own Lit shaders or hire someone to port the asset’s shader to HDRP.
The shader is named
Shader Forge/Character, I tried to manually convert one and it worked but some other ones just turn solid gray with no colors.
