Cyber Alley Cat

Cyber Alley Cat is a 2.5D platformer with a strong focus on interesting sub games (is that a word?) and cyberpunk atmosphere. This is my second Unity project and it has various goals:

  1. In the process I must dig deeper into Unity and become a fluent user.
  2. Also by documenting the hours and following the plan as closely as possible, I should get a grasp of how to scope a project.
  3. Cyber Alley Cat needs to be good enough to bring Redtail Games some publicity.
  4. The game should also sell a few copies

I intend to finish the project one month from now so the schedule is tight to say the least. Lot of things need to be done as easily as possible. For example, there will be no textures. The atmosphere will be created with lights, colors, sounds and ambient animations. I’ve also shopped around the asset store already.

You can follow the project here.

Thanks for reading, please share any tips and advice you might have - I’m still pretty new to game development. And thanks to Unity - the tool is absolutely brilliant.

The schedule for Cyber Alley Cat was highly optimistic even if I can blame “real work” for some of the delay.

In any case, I’ve modeled a lot of stuff in Blender and found a great 2.5D plugin so there is some progress too! Currently I’m tweaking the materials. I’m using toon shaders as an alternative to real time shadows, do you have better suggestions on how to achieve a moody, dark, cyberpunk atmosphere?

Gotta love NGUI and Playmaker. Hopefully their compatibility is further improved - here’s the latest post:

Made a prototype of a simple flight sim, you can find the post and the simulator here. Not a single line of coding done!
