d&d script

does anyone knows if there is any d&d scripts out there ? in flash or c# ?

Rule No. 1 for Unity newbies; There Is No “Make A Game” button. You’re going to have to compile a list of things which make up a D&D game, either by downloading them from the asset store or by making them yourself (I would suggest the former if you’re new to the interface). Here’s a few examples:

Questing system
Turn-Based Combat
Stat Saving/Skill Trees
NPC Conversations
Character Controllers
Camera Controllers (1st or 3rd person);

Etc. Instead of looking for the game as a whole, look for the things that, when combine, make up the game.

Hope the list is helpful [;)]

hi there,

thanks for your comment, im working on a board-game d&d like about 6 months for now and my main problem is to make the graphics + scripting work togheter, i have the concept :

  1. questing system
  2. turn-based combat
  3. stats \ saving throws
  4. npc
  5. characters
  6. 2.5D isometric camera

and the game need to looks like a boarding game with tile-sets something like that : http://download.gamezone.com/uploads/image/data/1185899/card_hunter.jpg

with the coding + graphics its need to be something small like 300MB maximum but im still stuck on how to excute it …

you missed out “procedural dungeon generation” so you have a map to work with (google really is your friend on that, loads of methods and examples on this one)

the dungeon doesnt going to be to much complicated, one screen per lvl so i have all the graphics all i nee to do is to make it work… ill be glad if you send me tutorial for this =]

Do you actually know any coding? Because then it’s best to start off with how coding works. Try Udacity, or Khan Academy: They’re great introductions to the world of code.

If you do know how coding generally works, then I would suggest looking up a tutorial for each feature you want to have in your game. Try these (I haven’t watchd them, they’re just an example):

Turne-Based game: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qC13uS6vBfU
Questing system: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERA0_A5sS1M
Stats: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xPOJjqYx-c

Then, when (not if [:P]) you come across any errors in the code, try googling them, or searching the forums/answers for the problem: It’s very rare that you find an error that no one’s encountered before. But if that still doesn’t answer your question, you can ask here, in your own words. Just make sure you ask about a specific thing (“My Character Controller isn’t moving”, “Stat systems don’t save”, or “How to lerp a texture”). That kind of thing.

Again, I hope these help [:)]

And @LeftyRighty : Procedural generation is great (Working on a PG terrain myself at the moment), but if this is your first game I would suggest starting out easy before moving on to more complex stuff. Because seriously, depending on the complexity of the terrain, PG can be really complex (Obviously [:P] Did I just create an oxymoron? [:P])

given the other things like “questing system” using the same map each time would be fairly limiting (and boring for the player), there are some fairly straight forward algorithms to place corridors and rooms (I’m thinking something simple like they used in Dungeon of Endless). Of course you could always go down a Heroquest / Guild of Dungeoneering route and have the player pick room tiles when they go through a door, kind of “build your own map as you play”… as i said, lots of ways of making a map, and yes some are horribly complex for newbies :stuck_out_tongue:
