Hellllooooo Unity Forums!
While staring at “Waiting for Review” in the App Store for a little over a week, I decided to pick up Unity Android Pro and see if I couldn’t port our games over to Android in time for Xmas.
And now, I am space-tastically excited to announce the release of two games to the Android Market.
Can YOU Dig It?[/B]**
**
Starting with a flat, open area of grass, you dig down - down - down, through various strata of rock, searching for (depth-appropriate) minerals that you subsequently mine.
The deeper you dig, the more likely a cave-in will occur.
And, once you’ve found your minerals - you can climb your way monkey-style back to the surface and cash your stones in.
I’m pretty proud of this one - it was a tricky piece of work to put together and have it perform nicely on our testing device (the old old old iPhone 3G).
Secondly…

__1) Kill Zombies 2) Buy Bread__
This game takes place in a randomly-populated grid of buildings - each with randomly-placed fake-advertisements.
It is effectively a survival game - stay alive for as many days as possible.
For every minute that passes in the real world, a day passes in game time, and as a result more zombies will spawn, they will be faster, they will spawn more frequently - the fog will become denser etc.
So at first things are fairly relaxed… meander about, take in the sights, then there’s maybe one zombie… then two… and so forth. A trickle then a torrent.
(Side note: Fog and ambient light color is also randomly selected from a handful of pre-selected palettes at load time, to keep it eye-burningly fresh).
As an additional development note:
-all games save state on quit (so if you get bored of staying alive or such, you can come back to the same progress upon reload)
-all games save your high score and - initially - your name / email to a server powered by Google App Engine (free!), so that in the future we can easily put together some high score functionality.
-games were developed on iPhone 3G, iPad and Android (Samsung Galaxy S).
So that concludes my showcase message!
There is a Youtube video on our channel (link in the sig) if you’re interested in seeing the games in action (along with a few others).
I’d be more than happy to answer any questions anybody has about our experiences with Unity iPhone / Android, or any development queries.
