Daemon by Daniel Suarez

Has anyone read this book? It is quite simply amazing! I have never been so captivated by anything in written medium in my life! The book is 429 pages long and I read all of them in less than 24 hrs of combined reading sessions… I seriously spent 2 days reading, from the moment I woke up, to the moment I went to sleep, only taking breaks for meals. I have never experienced anything like it!

For anyone who is an avid tech geek and likes to read, I HIGHLY suggest you read this book!

Synopsis:
A genius video game designer who became a multi-millionaire in his early twenties died of brain cancer at age 35. His death triggers an AI daemon that wishes to bring about a world-wide societal change.

That’s about all I can say without giving away the details.

ooh, that sounds juicy, thanks for the tip. I like me some sci fi suspense thriller stuff with game dev spin.

Also check out Halting State by John Stross for a great read with a game developer protagonist. And Player of Games by the awesome Ian Banks.

Have’nt heard of it , but sounds very interesting…

Ordered it on Amazon together with “Darknet” ( german release title , “Freedom” is the original english title), the next one in the series as it seems…

Yea, Freedom (as it is called in the US) is the sequel and conclusion… I just ordered it yesterday. Can’t wait to get started on it.

Another thing I liked about the story is that Mr. Suarez never once pressed into the “fantasy” realm… Everything that happens in the story is 100% possible… As you read you will realize that that fact becomes both very cool and very scary at the same time…
