I am just curious when do you you guys think Unity will start publishing daily deals actually worth buying ?
I don’t know about the rest of the word but here in South Africa the exchange rate is making it increasingly difficult to spend money on assets, and making people more selective on how to spend their hard earned cash.
I sincerely wish someone at unity will intervene and start doing dome daily deals on character packs. because purchasing a full set of carefully selected characters as will empty my bank account if i wish to create a fully fledged game
They have been since the beginning. It should be fairly obvious that not every single asset is going to appeal to every single developer, nor is that even possible, so it’s pretty incomprehensible to claim that somehow all the daily deals are “blunders” and they should apparently all be useful to you specifically. It would have made a lot more sense to simply request that a character pack be part of one of the sales.
I bought Daikon Forge in the last sale, I would have bought TC Particles indie too if I hadn’t already bought it when it first came out. May not be worth buying to you, but they are to plenty of other people.
I do understand that not all would be especially useful to every developer , but lets quickly look at the last two days , I could not for the life of me think that it would generate any good sales statistics especially today’s daily deal, maybe some analytical stats could justify the daily deal of today but on eye value I just don’t see it.
I think a lot more sales could be generated it customer trends are followed or simply by asking those who log into the asset store every single day (maybe an a quick survey might indicate what people would like to see on their daily deals based on categories)
Don’t get me wrong I have pulled great benefit from the daily deals sometimes buying the daily deal every day especially last December but its like it has hit an absolute dry patch the last 2 weeks , maybe i am wrong but it would be interesting to know how they make the daily deal decision.
Well the asset author needs to submit it into the daily deal rotation for one… if they haven’t done this then it will never happen. So the first step would be to email the seller and put the idea into their head
Though I agree, I WISH there were notifications from the asset store (either through email, or popups when you log in)… especially anything in your wishlist where the status changes(price, version etc) or goes into one of their sales structures…
I love that everyone has the same chance to get in there. It is something I absolutely loooove the Asset Store for. It often shows stuff I never even saw once when browsing the store.
If there would be an upvote system we would have the same stupidshitfuckelitist system as any other store that we always weep about in the gossip forum, where seemingly minor/less mindblowing applications/items don’t get the chance to shine in the spotlight.

The daily deals also support asset developers and Unity, besides customers. It’s an investment into the platform. I think it’s great that there is a wide spectrum of featured assets and not just the biggest best-selling items.
