So its been a long run for Sector7Games and our journey to the top but we have been given a chance of a lifetime to show our indie game off at E3, this will not only help us and we will not brag about our game but this will help spread the word of indie games and developers and Unity get even more popular and grow ! What do you guys think by us getting through to E3 will it help the whole indie community ?
So, you havn’t actually been given an opportunity… you are fishing for one… Personally there is no way I would ever give you a vote after looking at what you’ve offered, and reading through some of your threads/posts.
These would be my main concerns…
Your website is a joke. You are seriously trying to get enthusiasm when this travesty is your ‘image’? Some free hosted thing, with some random pix that hold little correlation to your game.
You have little to show. Some of your models look good, but I havnt seen anything substantial yet. What exactly are you planning on ‘showing off’ at E3? Maybe you have done more than youve shown. If this is the case, I suggest you show it now.
Using legitimate software seems to be a grey area for you. Mixing pro/free would be one example.
Do I think getting you into E3 will help the indie/unity community? No. It will just re-enforce the stereo type that indies are often amateur.
Josh, your website is sector7games.weebly.com, not a dodgy flash game. Even then I doubt anyone will take you seriously if you can’t get an actual domain.
Yea i’m confused, where can we see more about your game? indiedb just has a few screenshots of stand alone assets, and your website seems to have nothing to do with the game on indiedb but be a small flash game anyone could do in a couple hours?
I agree if someone’s going to E3 to represent unity3d, I would expect the game to be amazing even to be considered a chance. Personally I reckon Drunken lizard games (No heroes) should be nominated for the chance to go, He’s a single developer creating a amazing game that shows that indies are NOT amateurs and that great things can come from unity. http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/96339-FPS-Game-(WIP)-(-Weekly-Updates-)
Exactly. Also it seems like this indiecrash guys just mailed anyone they knew about… They mailed us aswell, but we have nothing to show. If you have nothing to show, do not go there. You are just going to look like a total amateur and it only harms the indie community.
Reading the indiecrash web page, nowhere does it say you’ll get the chance to show off your game. This is only for passes, and flights/hotel for the winner. Unless I’ve missed something.
Don’t take this as an insult, because its criticism. But, you mentioned you were in the top 10, where does it say that? Also, would you just show off models? Usually people want something interactive, not just pictures of models. Sorry, but you have to consider this stuff before just showing up.
You do not have my vote. The game is not ready to be shown. You have nothing other than a few images of artwork, a little music, and an unprofessional looking webpage. You ask us to help you get to the top 10, but why should we do that when there are games that actually have substantial content and are worth showing? In the first post you even misspelt your website address. All in all this is unprofessional and a blemish on the appearance of the indie community.
So you don’t have any screenshots of the game, you don’t have a prototype video, all your images are of renders of the in game models, and it appears you’re making yet another zombie game to cash in on the current fad. Why should I or anyone else actually vote for you?
Just to say: you made a huge misstep. Claiming to represent a group of people (indie developers, in your case) without any solid proof of it - and without some kind of election - is very naive and also offensive towards said group.
I also don’t like you taking credit for God World, which is Levi’s, and he’s the ONLY one that has worked on it, but you’re taking credit because he’s in your “group”. That’s a bit insulting considering that you haven’t touched it, and it actually has a prototype and potential.
I am sorry to say this, Josh, but you have a LONG way to go before you should even show images… and for contests like these, you’re work should be high caliber and high quality… I have seen many indie games that look absolutely amazing… I do like TOB and Interstellar Marines to name a few… hell, I wish Kinetic Damage was part of this…
